CALL FOR ARTISTS
Soulocentric is seeking applications from independent artists and small arts organizations for the Soulocentric Festival taking place October 3-6h, 2012 at the Vertigo Studio Theatre. We will be presenting both main-stage (full length) productions and short works ranging from 5-10 minutes long. Artists from theatre, dance, music and cross disciplines are invited to apply for this year’s Festival. All performances must be original, new works and solo performance based. We present a variety of genres and styles including, but not limited to, dramatic/comedic/physical/circus theatre, contemporary/classical/urban/traditional/folk dance and music.
The Soulocentric Festival 2012 is an opportunity for you, the artist, to showcase your original work and talent to the local community. We are a small Festival but here's how we will support you:
* We provide you with an organized, publicized event at a fully equipped studio theatre to showcase your work. While we have a limited publicity budget, and depend on each artist to promote the festival, we will market the overall festival and help you with individual marketing for your show.
* We provide remuneration on the basis of a box office split of 70% to the artist, 30% to Soulocentric to help cover expenses. Youth artists will be paid a set honorarium.
* We accept work in all stages of development (works-in-progress to final productions), from artists at all stages in their career (youth ages 15-21, emerging, semi-professional and professional artists). We provide an opportunity for artists to mount and document their work in order for them to discover further opportunities to take their work to its fullest potential.
The Soulocentric Festival can offer you the opportunity to practice your craft and showcase your work, ideas and talent to a wider public. We hope you will join us for this year's Festival!

Criteria For Submission
1. All performances must be original works and solo performance based. Solos can range from 5 minutes to 60 minutes. Interdisciplinary work is encouraged. Groups of artists may present a collection of shorter solos as one work if applicable (i.e. numerous dance solos that are connected by a theme etc.)
2. Priority will be given to new works created by local artists. Should you be performing another person’s work, a written letter of permission from the playwright must be included in your proposal.
3. Set, props and other technical elements must be kept to a minimum. You will be allotted no longer than 10 minutes to set up and strike your set.
4. If selected, you will be required to attend an artist information session on Sat. Aug 25th from 2pm-5pm.
