I spent a couple of hours yesterday on the "jury" for the Great Western Hat Stir-Up! at Art Central.  Dee Fontans, Rob Mabee and I viewed 50 or so entries in the 2nd annual fundraiser for the Olympic Plaza Cultural District.  The Stampede's most venerable symbol: The Cowboy Hat, receives, depending on your point of view, its due reverence or its due irreverence at the hand of many fabulous Calgary artists.

So, get out your wallet, head down to Art Central (tonight!) and partake in the silent auction for one of the many funny, interesting and astounding creations.  I'm guessing you won't look at The Cowboy Hat the same after this.
